The following article was brought to my attention the other day and I felt it was worth sharing. It offers very good insight into the how's and why's of belt promotion.
Great article, IMHO the Foundation for promotions lie in, Performance, Loyalty, Committment and Professionaism. No one can excell to their potential without each one of these traits.
First you must be able to perform,it will be obvious if you lack mat time.
Then you must show loyalty, not just bounce from school to school taking and not giving. We owe each other to train together to help each other grow.
We must all show committment to jiujitsu, life will put many obstacles in our way it is committment that will get us through.
And finally professionalism, that reflects in how we carry ourselves on and off the mat, in our daily life.
